    Julia Satterlee

    Founder of Pleasure Wise Wellness

    Hi, I’m Julia, a clinical sexologist with a passion for helping people transform their lives through pleasure and self-kindness. After years of helping clients embrace their desires in the bedroom, I realized the same principles of joy and self-acceptance can revolutionize how we approach goals and habits.

    I wasn’t always a pillar of wellness and good habits, trust me. My journey started by studying human sexuality. I was that person everyone confided in. People sensed that I wouldn’t judge them, and their struggles sparked something in me—an urge to find answers and take meaningful action.

    What began as my teenage “rebellion,” teaching others about safer sex and healthier relationships, eventually led me to become the clinical sexologist and wellness coach you see today. Still a rebel, still with an important cause—because you deserve to feel good in your body and your life. We all do, and yes, that includes you.

    With certifications from the American Board of Sexology and Sex Coach U, plus over two decades of experience in sex education, adult education, and human rights advocacy, this is what I was made for.

    Over the last 17 years, I’ve completely overhauled my own habits, and along with it, the way I see myself.

    Here’s some of what I’ve changed:

    • Quit smoking after 15 years of daily habit
    • Cut out alcohol
    • Exercise 4–6 days a week
    • Eat in a way that nourishes me, not based on denial or diets (daily chocolate included!)
    • Practice daily gratitude for the past 10 years
    • Transformed my relationship with my body
    • Changed many negative thinking patterns

    How did I change my own mind – and actions- on all of that?

    Let me give you an example.

    I used to be the kind of person who thought “working out” just wasn’t for me. I liked being active outside, and I played volleyball, but I didn’t see myself as someone who would purposely go do exercise.

    Then one cold winter, someone started dragging me to the gym, insisting that it helped with their seasonal depression, and it might help mine, too.

    Turns out, it did help with that, but I still thought the gym wasn’t really my place. Over time, though, I found exercises I enjoyed at the gym—like playing handball—and started making it a fun experience by going with a friend or listening to my favorite NPR show, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me. Then I learned other ways to exercise, to make it much more fun and engaging for me.

    Eventually, I fell in love with the endorphin rush and the confidence boost that came with getting stronger, and I saw how much  it helped regulate my moods, too. Intentional exercise became an essential part of my life and my identity, with time and some trial and error.

    I have a similar story for just about every habit I’ve changed. I’ve mastered the art of making change into a pleasurable practice, both rewarding and empowering, and I’m thrilled to help you do the same.
